Job description
The Packaging Designer role at Amazon focuses on creating innovative packaging solutions that enhance customer experience while ensuring sustainability and cost-effectiveness. The designer will collaborate with various teams, including program managers and engineers, to develop fiber-based packaging that meets customer expectations. This position is part of the Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging team, emphasizing the integration of optimized packaging in future automation investments. The role requires a blend of design expertise and project management skills to deliver best-in-class packaging solutions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Design/Innovation, research & development, manufacturing, process, industrial engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in AutoCAD 3D.
- Experience managing engineering design projects.
- Experience designing complex systems for automation in logistics or manufacturing.
- 3+ years of experience running standard package testing protocols (ISTA/ASTM).
- Master's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Knowledge of system architecture, optimization, and statistical analysis.
- Experience with automated material handling equipment and packaging technologies.
- Experience with design-in-safety.
- Experience with process design based on Lean Principles.
Responsibilities
- Develop prototypes and test new packaging designs using ArtiosCAD and SolidWorks.
- Create visual renderings to communicate design intent to stakeholders.
- Create detailed packaging specifications.
- Produce reports on packaging performance.
- Participate in or lead meetings to ensure developments meet benchmarks for customer experience, supply chain, and sustainability.
- Travel to engage with customers, supply chain, labs, and vendors.
