Job description
The Amazon Redshift team is seeking senior database engineers who are passionate about data warehousing and customer engagement. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Experience in an external enterprise customer-facing role as a technical lead
- Strong oral and written communication skills, presenting to both large and small audiences
- Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries with large-scale, complex datasets
- Knowledge of overall system architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance in a database environment
- Experience with large-scale data analytics and data warehousing
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
- Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field, or PhD
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of database systems internals including relational database design and distributed databases/MPP architectures
- Lead strategic data architecture and database design discussions with customers
- Drive and oversee workload analysis, performance benchmarking, and troubleshooting efforts with customers in their environments
- Clearly communicate deep technical topics to customers
- Influence the engineering team roadmap towards building a scalable and user-friendly product
- Conduct POCs with customers in competitive situations
- Leverage coding and scripting skills to automate tasks and improve workload analysis mechanisms
