Job description

The Principal Architect role at NVIDIA focuses on leading the research agenda and architectural direction for AI communication systems. The team is dedicated to solving complex infrastructure challenges related to data movement between GPUs, nodes, and storage. This position requires a strong background in systems software and networking, with an emphasis on high-performance solutions. The architect will also engage in original research and contribute to the development of production-grade software.

Requirements

  • 15+ years in systems software and/or networking with deep expertise in high-performance networking and communication libraries.
  • MS, PhD or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Deep understanding of computer architecture, memory hierarchies, DMA engines, and OS-level networking.
  • Understanding of ML systems concepts such as transformer architectures and distributed training patterns.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Rust, and Python.

Responsibilities

  • Set the long-term technical vision for distributed AI communication systems.
  • Conduct original research and prototype next-generation networking solutions.
  • Drive hardware-software co-optimization with various hardware components.
  • Investigate fundamental bottlenecks in communication runtimes for large-scale AI workloads.
  • Integrate networking capabilities into AI serving stacks and publish findings.
