The Data Center Retro Commissioning Engineer (CxE) is part of a creative team focused on optimizing the performance of Amazon-owned data centers in northern Virginia. This role involves supporting vendors and contractors in retro commissioning various systems, including electrical and mechanical infrastructure. The CxE will ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements while minimizing operational impact. The position offers opportunities for project leadership and collaboration on multi-discipline commissioning projects.
Requirements
- 3+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- NETA or ASHRAE certification or commissioning specific education courses
- Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
- Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
- Experience using a variety of web-based and other software tools for calculation and data processing
Responsibilities
- Provide testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure in existing operational facilities.
- Review as-built documents and equipment submittals, leading Factory Witness Testing when applicable.
- Manage third-party commissioning vendors in the performance of onsite functional and integrated systems testing.
- Resolve technical issues and address schedule impacts and coordination demands onsite.
- Audit Cx vendors' activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements.
- Report retro commissioning progress and metrics of assigned projects to the Regional Commissioning Manager.
- Lead several projects simultaneously to achieve key milestones and deliver optimized data center performance.
