Job description

Amazon is seeking a software development engineer to innovate and integrate robotics within its global fulfillment network. This role is part of the newly established Control Grid team, focusing on creating edge compute solutions for industrial automation applications. The position offers a collaborative, start-up-like environment where the candidate will work on a variety of automation projects. The ideal candidate will engage with multiple layers of technology, from low-level machine controls to cloud-based solutions.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems.
  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle, including coding standards and testing.
  • Experience programming with at least one modern programming language such as Java, C++, or C#.
  • 2+ years of experience contributing to systems architecture and design.
  • Experience with AWS technologies.
  • 3+ years of experience developing SaaS and IaaS applications utilizing AWS CDK in TypeScript.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate with a diverse array of internally and externally developed hardware and software services.
  • Implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Validate solutions via software-in-the-loop simulation.
  • Work closely with deployment teams to implement end-to-end solutions in the field.
  • Develop infrastructure to support development, operations, and maintenance of low-level software for warehouse automation systems.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
