Job description

The Systems Engineer role within Amazon's Robotics Delivery & Packaging Innovations (RDPI) team focuses on deploying innovative industrial robotics across North America's fulfillment network. This position involves overseeing large-scale project planning, installation, and launch of automation technologies. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and experience with complex electro-mechanical systems. The role requires extensive travel across North America and relocation to Amazon corporate offices in Seattle, Boston, or Austin.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of Linux systems administration and/or development experience
  • 1+ years of work in at least two programming languages such as Python, Java, Perl, PHP, Ruby, or Bash/Shell
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other technical degree or related experience
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals
  • Experience working in a 24/7 production environment
  • 1+ years of experience with technical drawings and/or reading CAD models
  • 1+ years of experience working on mechanical, electrical, IT networked, or software systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot robotics systems to resolve escalations
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to work primarily in a construction or warehouse environment and travel extensively

Responsibilities

  • Manage the tactical deployment of large scale industrial automation technologies across multiple sites.
  • Own the tactical execution of onsite coordination of installation and acceptance testing.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineering, technical program managers, and internal customers to refine deployment execution documents.
  • Improve operational metrics and team processes through automation and optimization.
  • Independently resolve difficult technical problems during deployment.
  • Create and improve standard work documents and operational guidebooks.
  • Influence internal and partner teams towards meeting team level goals.
  • Develop subject matter expertise in one or more deployment domains.
  • Mentor junior engineers and participate in technical assessments.
  • Drive operational excellence initiatives with measurable results.
