Job description

We are seeking a creative and highly motivated Site Reliability Engineer to join our Systems and Infrastructure team. This role focuses on building and managing world-class services and physical infrastructure for Apple software engineers globally. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physical infrastructure within large-scale distributed environments and a passion for solving complex problems. Our team values engineering excellence, reusable design, and a supportive culture that fosters growth and collaboration.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Systems Admin focused on physical infrastructure in a large-scale distributed environment.
  • Strong software development skills in a language like Swift, Go, or Python, and a high degree of comfort with shell scripting (Bash).
  • Hands-on experience building and managing systems with container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP.
  • Experience using observability tools for monitoring, logging, and tracing to diagnose complex issues.
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Build automation tools that eliminate routine tasks and improve efficiency.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce technical debt and improve system performance and latency.
  • Conduct performance analysis and capacity planning for physical infrastructure.
  • Lead incident response for high-impact outages.
  • Utilize Generative AI or Large Language Models to accelerate operational tasks.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
