Job description

The Product Integrity group is seeking a Systems Software Engineer to join the OS Diagnostics team. This role focuses on developing and maintaining software for characterizing, calibrating, and testing new hardware. The engineer will work closely with various teams at Apple and contract manufacturers, contributing to hardware quality and user experience. Candidates should have experience in software development across different hardware platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 2 years of software engineering experience.
  • Expertise in at least one of C++, Objective-C, or Swift.
  • Experience developing drivers or applications in Unix, Linux, or macOS.
  • Experience with building embedded system architectures and using interfaces such as I2C, USB, or PCIe.
  • Experience building and debugging distributed applications.
  • Experience debugging at all levels of an operating system.
  • Familiarity with Python, Lua, or Bash.
  • Proven task management skills.
  • Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, debug, and maintain internal software for various Apple products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, and Operations.
  • Engage with products from early development through mass production.
  • Contribute to the characterization, calibration, and testing of new hardware.
  • Debug software and hardware independently and in a multi-functional team setting.
