Job description

The User Secrets team at Apple is focused on ensuring that user data remains secure and accessible only to them through advanced encryption techniques. As part of this team, you will work on systems that securely store and synchronize private data across Apple's product ecosystem. The role involves collaborating with various security partners and contributing to both on-device operating systems and cloud services. You will tackle engineering challenges while balancing usability, performance, and security to protect users' secrets.

Requirements

  • M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
  • 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer in a Systems Programming or Distributed Systems development role
  • Exposure to and knowledge of OS security, applied cryptography, and key management
  • Experience with Swift, Obj-C, C, and C++
  • Excellent collaboration and leadership skills

Responsibilities

  • Influence the design and implementation of Apple's embedded and desktop operating system products
  • Collaborate closely with security partners across various teams
  • Contribute code and technical expertise to enable end-to-end encrypted data synchronization
  • Resolve conflicts and balance compromises between usability, performance, and security
  • Understand and drive architectural changes to complex distributed systems
