Job description
This role at Apple seeks a passionate engineer to contribute to the development of innovative mobile devices. The candidate will work in a multi-functional team environment, focusing on mechanical design and project leadership. Strong communication skills are essential for collaboration with vendors in Asia and internal teams. The position involves building prototypes, conducting failure analysis, and working on-site at contract manufacturers in India to ensure successful product integration.
Requirements
- 3+ years of mechanical design experience using a variety of fabrication processes.
- 3+ years of consumer electronics design experience demonstrating the ability to work on complex products with large multidisciplinary teams.
- A solid understanding of engineering fundamentals including heat transfer, mechanics of materials, and precision fabrication.
- Understanding of tight-tolerance fabrication and assembly techniques, mechanical drawing composition, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and statistical tolerance analysis techniques.
- Strong proficiency in Siemens NX for components, assemblies, and drawings.
- Experience with metrology and interpreting and deriving meaningful insights from FAI data.
- Experience working with electrical engineers to layout and build custom PCBs/FPCs.
- Experience owning parts at various production stages and engaging with vendors to yield successful parts and assemblies.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
