Job description

The Display Metrology System Engineer at Apple is responsible for designing and developing solutions for calibrating and testing display modules and optical components. This role is part of a collaborative Display Technology team that values innovation and engineering excellence. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop metrology systems during the New Product Introduction stage. The position requires a passion for display technology and optical metrology, with a focus on creating industry-leading methodologies and solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Optics, Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience working in metrology of display technologies such as OLED, LCD, or LED.
  • Experience in building metrology systems, including software scripting and optical instruments setup.
  • Direct experience in display or optical metrology systems development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Programming skills in Matlab and Python.

Responsibilities

  • Define calibration and test Engineering Requirement Specifications.
  • Develop industry-leading calibration and test methodologies and solutions.
  • Design metrology system architecture and derive requirements for optical instruments and mechanical fixtures.
  • Lead the development of systems and key components based on Engineering Requirement Specifications.
  • Integrate software and hardware components and build prototypes for validation.
  • Optimize test coverage, sequence, and methodology creatively and strategically.
  • Lead vendors in developing and qualifying systems to meet production requirements.
  • Conduct hardware and software issue failure analysis from module to component level.
  • Deploy and bring up developed systems in factories during the New Product Introduction stage.
  • Analyze large amounts of New Product Introduction data and create build reports.
  • Create system design improvement plans based on findings from New Product Introduction builds.
  • Develop station bring-up, qualification, and audit methods, and create documentation for operations teams.
