Job description
The Data Center Project Manager, Mechanical will oversee the full lifecycle of mechanical systems for data center construction projects at Apple. This role is part of the Global Design and Construction team, which is responsible for delivering mission-critical data center projects. The position requires strong project management skills and hands-on mechanical oversight experience. The successful candidate will work closely with design partners, contractors, and internal teams to ensure the successful delivery of mechanical systems on time and within budget.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience focused on hyperscale or large-scale colocation data center construction and commissioning.
- Demonstrated experience managing the mechanical equipment procurement lifecycle including bid leveling and PO issuance.
- Hands-on experience developing and executing Commissioning (Cx) Plans and commissioning schedules.
- Working knowledge of data center cooling infrastructure including chilled water systems and associated piping.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents including mechanical plans and specifications.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or equivalent.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage mission-critical data center construction projects and ensure successful delivery of mechanical systems.
- Oversee the full mechanical equipment lifecycle from bid leveling through just-in-time delivery.
- Collaborate with design partners, contractors, and internal operations teams.
- Develop and execute commissioning plans and schedules for mechanical and BMS controls systems.
- Coordinate TAB activities and reporting in accordance with ASHRAE standards.
- Ensure project objectives and program standards are met throughout the project lifecycle.
- Travel domestically and internationally approximately 40-50% of the time.
