The System Experience Test Engineering team at Apple is seeking a dedicated software engineer to join their dynamic group. This role involves testing iconic operating systems and ensuring the quality of Apple's ecosystems, including iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS. As a Software Engineer in Test, you will collaborate with software engineers and project managers to deliver high-quality operating systems through continuous integration testing. The position requires a mix of manual and automated testing to focus on both larger projects and detailed UI elements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or two years of directly related work experience.
- Three years of experience as a software engineer.
- Experience writing code in Swift or Objective C to test an API, SDK, or Frameworks.
- Experience writing and triaging automated software tests, including unit-tests, regression tests, functional tests, and stress tests.
- Experience in developing test plans, assessing risk, filing appropriate bugs, and consolidating bug reports.
- Experience in driving development and deployment of relevant testing tools and infrastructure.
- Experience with XCTest and Xcode.
- Detail oriented, analytical, and creative problem solver with a passion for quality processes.
- Ability to triage problems, prioritize accordingly, and propose a resolution.
- Ability to work independently, raise issues, and take corrective action.
- Keen eye for detail.
Responsibilities
- Work on a multi-functional team responsible for projects such as SpringBoard and Spotlight.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers, project managers, and other quality teams.
- Ensure the delivery of the next generation of operating systems with the highest quality.
- Provide continuous integration testing through a mix of manual and automated testing.
- Focus on larger projects while also sweating the small UI details.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
