Job description

The role involves working within Apple's Silicon Engineering group to model power dissipation for various IPs and applications, including AI/ML and SOC/system level power modeling. The engineer will collaborate with teams across architecture, SOC design, and system design to optimize power efficiency in leading-edge chips. This position also includes partnering with lab and silicon characterization teams to correlate models with silicon data. The engineer will contribute to innovative product development that impacts millions of customers.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience.
  • MSEE preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of SOC architecture and power modeling.
  • Deep understanding of SOC building blocks including CPU, GPU, caches, memory, and media IPs.
  • Skills in scripting and data analysis.
  • Understanding of VLSI design flow and CMOS technology.
  • Ability to understand and model thermal control loops and throttling mechanisms.
  • Strong teammate with excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Model power dissipation at the SOC level, including Neural Engines, CPUs, Graphics, compute (AI/ML) accelerators, media IPs, caches, and fabric.
  • Model power dissipation for customer use-cases.
  • Interact with the System designers, Technology team, Silicon Validation, and Product Engineering teams to define power targets at the SOC level and the power delivery.
  • Work with the power lab and test teams to correlate models to silicon data.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
