JobsSoC Power Spec Engineer
Job description
The role involves working within Apple's Silicon Engineering group to model power dissipation for various IPs and applications, including AI/ML. The engineer will collaborate with multiple teams, including architecture and SOC design, to optimize power efficiency in leading-edge chips. This position offers the chance to contribute to innovative products that reach millions of customers. The engineer will also engage in silicon/model correlation efforts and work closely with validation teams.
Requirements
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
- MSEE preferred.
- Deep knowledge of SOC architecture and power modeling.
- Deep understanding of SOC building blocks including CPU, GPU, caches, memory, and media IPs.
- Skills in scripting and data analysis.
- Understanding of VLSI design flow and CMOS technology.
- Ability to understand and model thermal control loops and throttling mechanisms.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as a teammate.
Responsibilities
- Model power dissipation at the SOC level, including Neural Engines, CPUs, Graphics, compute (AI/ML) accelerators, media IPs, caches, and fabric.
- Model power dissipation for customer use-cases.
- Interact with System designers, Technology team, Silicon Validation, and Product Engineering teams to define power targets at the SOC level.
- Work with the power lab and test teams to correlate models to silicon data.
