Job description
This role is focused on mechanical design for the next generation of innovative mobile devices at Apple. The ideal candidate will have a passion for engineering and thrive in an innovative environment. They will lead projects in a multi-functional setting and communicate effectively with both internal teams and vendors in Asia. The position involves building prototypes, conducting failure analysis, and working on-site at contract manufacturers in India to implement and integrate iPhones for large-scale production.
Requirements
- 3+ years of mechanical design experience using a variety of fabrication processes
- 3+ years of consumer electronics design experience with complex products and multidisciplinary teams
- A solid understanding of engineering fundamentals including heat transfer and mechanics of materials
- Understanding of tight-tolerance fabrication and assembly techniques, and mechanical drawing composition
- Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and statistical tolerance analysis techniques
- Strong proficiency in Siemens NX for components, assemblies, and drawings
- Experience with metrology and interpreting FAI data
- Experience working with electrical engineers to layout and build custom PCBs/FPCs
- Experience owning parts at various production stages and engaging with vendors
