Job description
The Apple Services Engineering Traffic team is seeking an experienced manager to lead a team focused on building secure service networking products that power Apple Services. This role involves ensuring performant and reliable service-to-service communication at Apple scale, supporting critical multi-billion dollar businesses. The manager will guide skilled engineers in designing and delivering next-generation traffic mesh solutions. The position requires a strong understanding of traffic management and experience in operating highly scalable distributed services.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
- 2+ years of leadership experience in software engineering.
- A deep understanding of traffic management at scale at Layer 4 or 7 of the network OSI model.
- Strong communication skills with multiple multi-functional engineering and non-engineering partners.
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering in highly scalable distributed services.
- 4+ years of management experience in software engineering.
- Professional expertise in Traffic/Edge Engineering or Cloud Networking.
- Strong hands-on experience with Layer-4 or Layer-7 traffic meshes and control plane technology.
- Experience operating workloads across multiple cloud-native environments such as AWS and GCP.
- Experience with modern containerization platforms such as the Kubernetes ecosystem.
- Exposure to end-to-end routing of traffic in a complex ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of engineers in designing and delivering secure service networking solutions.
- Build the next generation of traffic mesh for Apple Services.
- Ensure the performance and reliability of service-to-service communication.
- Manage the full product lifecycle from design to implementation and production.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet engineering and business goals.
