Job description
The Retail Engineering Foundations team is looking for DevOps Engineers to enhance the infrastructure and platforms used in Apple Stores and Apple Store Online. The role focuses on operational excellence through automation and engineering procedures, collaborating with various teams to ensure seamless integration of development and operations. As a DevOps Engineer, you will be involved in designing, developing, and maintaining DevOps systems using multiple programming languages. This position is crucial for delivering a highly-available development ecosystem for Apple Retail.
Requirements
- B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional work experience.
- 3 years of proven experience implementing and operating fully-automated CI/CD platforms for containerized software applications on cloud-based Kubernetes.
- 2+ years of experience with programming languages such as Go, Python, Node, or Java, with proficiency in concurrency and performance optimization.
- Proven experience developing software in a professional capacity.
- Proficiency in OOP principles, data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns.
- Understanding of compliance and security concepts such as SOC2, SOX, CVEs, and OWASP.
- Expertise in implementing and operating build and test systems for Java and other languages.
- Experience with high-scale, high-performance, fault-tolerant distributed microservices.
- Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, including schema design and query optimization.
- Knowledge of advanced networking concepts and protocols.
- Experience with gRPC and Protocol Buffers for API design.
- Understanding of system monitoring and observability, including familiarity with OpenTelemetry.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, document, improve, and maintain DevOps systems.
- Collaborate closely with other DevOps Engineers, SREs, Software Engineers, and Project Managers.
- Participate in all aspects of projects from planning to design to implementation.
- Ensure the integration of development and operations processes.
- Help design and manage systems, frameworks, and platforms relied upon by Apple employees and customers.
