Job description

The Lead Wireless Firmware Test Engineer will be part of the Wireless Connectivity Silicon team, focusing on ensuring the quality of Apple's WIFI/BT N1 chip and related products. This role involves establishing testing frameworks, mentoring QA engineers, and leading automation initiatives. The engineer will collaborate with various engineering teams to develop comprehensive test strategies and oversee the creation of test cases and setups. The position requires strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of wireless technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience with WIFI or Bluetooth technologies.
  • Previous experience as a lead or manager.
  • Proven understanding of Python.
  • Strong wireless, PHY, and radio fundamentals.
  • Experience in firmware/software white box testing.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of embedded software fundamentals and low-level hardware interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a QA engineering team, providing technical guidance.
  • Establish testing priorities and resource allocation based on business impact.
  • Partner with engineering leadership to develop comprehensive test strategies.
  • Oversee the development of white box firmware test cases and automation frameworks.
  • Direct the creation of pre-silicon and post-silicon reference board test setups.
  • Establish quality metrics and KPIs to measure testing effectiveness.
  • Review and approve test plans, reports, and defect analyses.
  • Serve as a quality advocate in cross-functional meetings.
  • Guide the team in debugging complex issues and provide technical escalation support.
