Job description

The Wireless Connectivity Silicon team is seeking a Wireless Firmware Test Engineer to ensure the quality of innovative wireless silicon used in Apple products. This role involves collaborating with various engineering teams to develop firmware test plans that guarantee stability, reliability, and performance. The engineer will create test cases, develop test setups, and support debugging efforts. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a strong foundation in wireless communication systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of wireless communication systems and IEEE 802.11 standards.
  • Programming skills in Python, Perl, or Shell scripting.
  • Proven experience as a Silicon firmware test engineer.
  • Strong wireless, PHY, and radio fundamentals.
  • Experience in firmware and software white box testing.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of embedded software fundamentals and low-level hardware interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with firmware, radio, MAC, and systems engineering teams to develop firmware test plans.
  • Develop white box firmware test cases by understanding firmware code structure.
  • Work closely with developers to craft test methodologies and firmware functions.
  • Publish test reports and collect test logs.
  • Build pre-silicon and post-silicon reference board test setups.
  • Design and develop innovative ideas to address automation and execution problems.
  • Support development in debugging and reproducing issues.
  • Work with system QA on bug reproduction and log/statistic collection.
