Job description

The Senior Software Engineer will be part of the Business Technology Solutions team at Apple, focusing on the development and design of web applications and components. This role involves collaborating with internal business partners and external vendors to create and maintain websites while ensuring data quality and integrity. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in both front-end and back-end development, contributing to technology-enabled business solutions that impact Apple's bottom line. A strong desire to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple releases a day is essential.

Requirements

  • BS or advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years in a senior engineer role
  • Expert knowledge of the Ruby on Rails framework and Ruby as a core language with a minimum of 8 years of experience
  • Expert knowledge of API design and interface technologies such as JSON, ProtoBuf, REST, RPC, and XML
  • Expert knowledge of basic frontend development including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and JQuery
  • Expert knowledge of integrated testing frameworks like RSpec and MiniTest
  • Expert knowledge of GoLang or a similar compiled, high-concurrency, lower-level language such as Erlang, C++, C, Rust, or Java
  • Solid understanding of Continuous Integration suites like CircleCI and Jenkins
  • Exposure to AWS and DevOps
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong skills in cross-functional collaboration, communication, and relationship building

Responsibilities

  • Design, code, test, and implement websites and applications for internal or external use
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to performance, response times, capacity, and system limitations
  • Create and modify documentation corresponding to websites
  • Collaborate with internal business partners and technology resources as well as external vendors
  • Maintain and update websites to ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across the organization
