Job description
The System Performance Engineer will join the Apple Service Engineering team to drive innovation and enhance user experiences through technology. This role focuses on ensuring the end-to-end performance of Private Cloud Compute running Apple Intelligence in the cloud. The engineer will collaborate with various teams, including architecture and SRE, to define product performance targets and develop tools for performance evaluation. Strong problem-solving skills and effective communication are essential for success in this position.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Performance Engineer
- In-depth professional experience with cloud operations
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Grafana, and Prometheus
- Proven understanding of network technologies, protocols, and procedures for iOS and macOS
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Scripting and programming skills in C/C++, Python, SQL, and Shell
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Experience with both traditional ML systems and GenAI LLMs
- Experience with data analytics platforms, such as Hadoop, Spark, or Snowflake
- Understanding of hardware components and hardware/software interaction
Responsibilities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with architecture, platform design, SOC architects, and software teams.
- Ensure the end-to-end performance of Private Cloud Compute running Apple Intelligence in the cloud.
- Define product performance targets in collaboration with architecture teams.
- Assess end-to-end performance with the SRE team.
- Develop automation and infrastructure tools to evaluate the performance of Apple Intelligence products.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and reproduce issues as necessary.
