Job description
The System Firmware and Diagnostics team is seeking an embedded software engineer to contribute to core technologies that enhance Apple's product development, testing, and manufacturing processes. This role emphasizes innovation, collaboration, and autonomy within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The engineer will engage with various teams, including Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Hardware Testing. A go-getter attitude is essential for success in this highly cross-functional position.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in C/C++ with some embedded software experience preferred.
- Understanding and experience with ARM platform and architecture/instruction set.
- Experience developing low level drivers.
- Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience with debuggers such as gdb, lldb, etc.
- Familiarity with scopes and logic analyzers.
- Ability to comprehend hardware specs and schematics.
- Familiarity with standard hardware protocols such as USB, UART, SPI, I2C, PCIe, MIPI, HDMI, and DDR.
- Familiarity with some form of scripting like lua or python.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including EE, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Hardware Testing, QA, Factory, Manufacturing, and Operations.
- Contribute to the development and testing of embedded software solutions.
- Engage in product innovation and rapid product iteration.
- Comprehend and work with hardware specifications and schematics.
- Develop low level drivers and ensure their functionality.
