Job description

The Home Platforms Software Team is seeking an experienced engineer to join the tvOS Performance Engineering team, focusing on delivering top-notch home entertainment solutions. This role involves analyzing the performance of tvOS for HomePod and Apple TV, including memory footprint and audio/video performance. The engineer will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with various teams across Apple. A strong understanding of OS performance and hardware-software interaction is essential for success in this position.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience working in OS Performance area
  • Strong understanding of low-level hardware-software interaction and operating systems from Kernel to User Interface
  • Proven understanding of various OS architectures and their optimization and performance
  • Methodical approach with a proven record of leading a complete functional area of an application or product
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Scripting and programming skills in C/C++, Python or similar
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical abilities
  • Experience in drawing conclusions from large amounts of data and presenting it to engineering leadership
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Analyze the performance of tvOS for HomePod and Apple TV
  • Evaluate memory footprint, video and audio performance, and interactive responsiveness
  • Collaborate with engineering teams across Apple, including Core OS, hardware engineering, HomeKit, and audio and video engineering
  • Work independently on a quickly changing set of projects and requirements
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and reproduce issues effectively
