Job description

Apple's Display Technologies group is seeking experienced Mechanical Engineers to design and develop innovative display modules for future products. The role focuses on creating next-generation technologies and ensuring the integration of these technologies into robust display designs. Candidates should have a strong background in mechanical engineering and a passion for consumer electronics. The position involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and requires international travel.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 8 years of experience.
  • Experience delivering designs from concept development through production.
  • Expertise in mechanical engineering fundamentals including properties of materials, solid mechanics, beam statics, Newtonian physics, and thermodynamics.
  • Experience leading mechanical design and validation.
  • 3D/2D software experience in modeling tools such as Pro/E, NX, CATIA, or Solidworks.
  • Experience with diverse manufacturing techniques and materials.
  • Failure analysis experience.
  • MS degree.
  • Experience with simulation and analysis such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma methodology and capable of large data set analysis using JMP, MATLAB, or Minitab.
  • Electro-mechanical design experience for high-volume products with an emphasis on reliability.
  • Experience creating and applying AI/ML tools for mechanical engineering workflows.
  • Excellent prioritization and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • High energy personality with a passion for learning and attention to detail.
  • Experience leading technical projects into qualification and production.
  • Engineering leadership skills to approach problem solving flexibly.
  • Experience developing component or material evaluation tests.
  • Experience creating and modifying engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Understanding of DFA/DFM and statistical tolerance analysis.
  • Applied Design of Experiments (DOE) and scientific method experience.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate state-of-the-art mechanical designs and innovate ways to improve Apple display performance.
  • Define and lead the module mechanical architecture based on cross-functional requirements.
  • Achieve system goals through mechanical design optimization and manufacturing processes.
  • Define and implement validation plans for mechanical engineering characteristics of display modules.
  • Act as a focal point among cross-functional teams and suppliers to resolve open issues.
  • Support the product through engineering development, mass-production ramp-up, and launch.
  • Audit factories to ensure high yield and quality in manufacturing and assembly.
  • Drive detailed failure analyses for any issues to implement corrective actions.
  • Communicate validation results to peers and leadership.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
