Job description
The Audio QA - AirPods Team is looking for a creative and organized test engineer to enhance the quality of Apple's AirPods products. This role involves developing testing solutions, qualifying audio drivers and firmware, and automating test suites. The ideal candidate will work closely with peer groups to define and update test plans and processes. A strong focus on user-centered quality and the ability to adapt to new technologies are essential for success in this fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in audio test engineering
- Advanced understanding of macOS and iOS platforms
- Expertise in audio testing and devising test plans
- Familiarity with real-time audio handling including sample rates and buffering
- Proficient in using Python and command line interfaces
- Knowledge of Apple software developer tools such as Xcode and Objective-C
- Foundational understanding of electronics and audio technology
- Experience with FPGAs and development boards is preferred
- Audio DSP experience is preferred
- BS/BA in Computer Science, Audio Engineering or Music Technology
Responsibilities
- Develop testing solutions to support quality initiatives for AirPods products
- Qualify audio drivers, firmware, and audio subsystems using manual test passes
- Build plans to automate test suites and architect automation plans
- Collaborate with peer groups to understand needs and challenges
- Define and update team test plans, test cases, processes, and procedures
- Lead test areas and communicate testing progress and issues
- Adapt quickly to new technologies for effective audio testing
