Job description

The Engineering Manager on the ASE Commerce - Accounts team will lead the evolution of Apple's commerce ecosystem, focusing on delivering best-in-class commerce experiences for services like Apple Music and the App Store. This role involves building and guiding a team that develops shared services and application components while ensuring reliability and security at massive scale. The manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to tackle challenges related to systems exposed to hundreds of millions of users. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Strong object-oriented design skills with experience building maintainable, extensible systems.
  • Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing highly scalable, secure RESTful web services.
  • Hands-on engineering skills with the ability to write clean, well-documented, production-ready code.
  • Experience with relational databases and ORM frameworks like Hibernate and JPA.
  • Strong testing practices including unit and integration testing with tools like JUnit and Mockito.
  • Experience working in and navigating large, complex codebases.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related technical fields.
  • Experience leading large cross-functional projects.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Sprint Planning techniques.
  • Expertise with NoSQL data stores like Solr, Elastic Search, and Redis.
  • Experience with monitoring, observability, and debugging production systems.
