Job description

This role at Apple involves leading a team of engineers in support of new product development and sustaining operations. The focus is on ensuring contract manufacturer readiness for high volume production while addressing technical operational issues related to SMT and system integration processes. The position requires a blend of technical expertise and project management skills to drive manufacturing operations across multiple vendors. Requirements

  • BS in a related Engineering field
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering and manufacturing
  • MS in a related Engineering field is preferred
  • Experience in introducing products into manufacturing or high volume production is a huge plus
  • Excellent project management skills and experience working in a matrix organization
  • Direct experience leading functional engineering teams such as ME, EE, TE, or DFX is a plus
  • Experience working with International OEM partners
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a worldwide environment
  • New Product Introduction and Manufacturing Operations experience is desired
  • Validated working experience with DFm and DFx
  • Proven track record of cost reduction, project management, and engineering design
  • Understanding of tolerance stack ups for assemblies and part level
  • Solid understanding of GD&T principles is a plus
  • Proven understanding of pneumatics, servomotors, PLC, and PC-based control systems is a plus
  • Experience with JMP, Minitab, and Six Sigma is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead manufacturing operations at multiple vendors and sites
  • Drive contract manufacturer preparation for pre-production builds
  • Develop, document, optimize, and validate production processes
  • Implement new technologies to improve production quality, capacity, and efficiency
  • Set standard practices and assess impact on design approaches and parameters
  • Provide direction, mentorship, and resources to engineering groups and project leaders
  • Act as lead engineer on various projects and participate in project planning
  • Communicate regularly with VP level regarding the technical health of programs
  • Engage in design for manufacturability to ensure manufacturability of new products
  • Support all phases of a product from concept to end of life
  • Design and develop processes to improve quality and efficiency
  • Plan and implement procedures for testing and evaluating new products
  • Compile data and make recommendations for product design changes and assembly standards
