Job description

As a Cellular Firmware Engineer, you will be integral to the 5G/4G/multimode cellular firmware development within a leading silicon design and firmware group. This role focuses on diagnosing and optimizing embedded firmware for advanced cellular technologies. You will collaborate with various product development teams to enhance wireless systems and improve customer experiences. The position requires a strong understanding of cellular technology and the ability to adapt to evolving requirements.

Requirements

  • BS degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience is required.
  • Strong understanding of 5G and 4G 3GPP standards.
  • Competent knowledge of Layer One and Physical Layer control.
  • Proficiency in embedded programming languages such as C and C++.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python and JavaScript.
  • Experience with embedded real-time software system bring-up, debug, and test.
  • Advanced degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or data science with 5+ years of relevant experience in the wireless communications industry is preferred.
  • Experience in AI/ML technology and familiarity with LLM, RAG, Transformer, Claude, and other AI/ML techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in silicon bring-up and feature bring-up activities.
  • Triage a multi-mode L1/PHY firmware architecture of a mobile wireless communication system.
  • Troubleshoot and debug L1/PHY modem firmware issues utilizing AI and automation techniques.
  • Develop triaging automation to enhance firmware testing.
  • Optimize L1 and PHY firmware testability and debug capability.
  • Run data mining, extraction, and formatting to monitor firmware health and debug efficiency.
