Job description
The Graphics Software Engineer will join the Maps team at Apple, focusing on developing the rendering engine for Apple Maps and third-party applications. This role involves designing, prototyping, and implementing solutions for rendering interactive 3D models across various Apple devices. The team is dedicated to enhancing the user experience of maps through innovative technology and collaboration. Candidates will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge graphics engines and algorithms.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree and 5 years of experience in 3D realtime rendering applications
- High proficiency in writing safe, performant C++ code
- Knowledge of the graphics pipeline, modern rendering techniques, and image processing
- Experience with modern graphics APIs such as Metal, Vulkan, Direct3D 12, and WebGPU
- Familiarity with shading languages including MSL, HLSL, GLSL, and WGSL
- Ability to solve problems in 3D geometry using linear algebra
- Experience with all stages of software development from prototyping to performance optimization
- Solid debugging and problem-solving skills
- Outstanding teamwork and communication skills
- Passionate about owning and refining features
- MS or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field
- Experience developing interactive 3D engines on mobile platforms like iOS, Android, or Linux
- Familiarity with AR/VR rendering technologies
Responsibilities
- Design and prototype solutions for rendering interactive 3D models.
