JobsDigital Hardware Engineer
Job description
The digital hardware design engineer will be part of a world-class wireless hardware team responsible for the design, implementation, and verification of baseband systems for all mobile Apple products. This role focuses on enhancing wireless connectivity through innovative system-on-chip designs and improving product performance. The engineer will work closely with internal hardware and silicon teams to validate new digital interfaces and protocols. Collaboration with external vendors will also be essential to address silicon design issues during prototype builds.
Requirements
- Minimum requirement of a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- Solid understanding of SoC/PMU design and micro-architecture.
- Hands-on experience in silicon bring-up or post-silicon validation.
- Experience with high-speed memory systems and digital communication interfaces such as PCIe, RFFE, SPMI, DDR, USB, SPI, and I2C.
- Familiarity with interpreting and navigating complex schematics and PCB layouts.
- Working knowledge of hardware/software co-debug methodologies on multi-processor embedded systems.
- Hands-on hardware debugging expertise, including the use of modern lab equipment.
- Good understanding of modern operating systems, firmware, and device drivers.
- Proficiency in developing targeted tests to exercise specific aspects of silicon designs and digital interfaces.
- Experience with volume stress testing, reliability screening, or production-level validation of wireless or cellular modem chipsets.
Responsibilities
- Design, execute, and debug system-level test plans for new silicon implemented in next generation Apple products.
- Work proactively and cooperatively with cross-functional engineering groups.
- Discover root cause silicon design issues found during development prototype builds.
- Develop successful integration and verification plans with external chipset vendors.
- Present technical findings and drive hardware issues to closure in a cross-functional team environment.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
