Job description

The role is for a senior Applied AI engineer on a creative engineering team focused on enhancing product durability through data-driven insights. The engineer will lead the development of intelligent applications and systems that utilize hardware test data, enabling hardware engineers to create their own software tools. This position involves architecting and building scalable software while collaborating with hardware and software engineering teams at Apple. The engineer will also provide technical leadership and bridge business needs with production software solutions.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Machine Learning, or related field.
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience with a strong foundation in CS fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in building production web applications using Python, TypeScript, and cloud-scale containerized services on Kubernetes.
  • 2+ years of experience with applied AI Engineering, leveraging GenAI and ML for production-level solutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to lead contractors and mentor peers.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Machine Learning, or related field is a plus.
  • Deep expertise in Kubernetes networking, particularly in enterprise environments.
  • Strong experience building multi-tenant platforms that execute user-submitted code.
  • Experience with production observability stacks such as OpenTelemetry and Prometheus.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement AI/ML software applications at cloud-scale for the Reliability department.
  • Provide technical leadership and bridge the gap between business needs and production software.
  • Deliver tools that automate workflows and surface novel insights for the organization.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software engineering teams to design robust AI/ML applications.
  • Iterate on software based on evolving requirements and provide input on technical strategy.
  • Lead contractors and drive projects forward while presenting to executive leadership.
