Job description

Apple's Wireless System and Compliance Engineering team is seeking an engineer to focus on radiated system characterization and performance analysis for various connectivity technologies. This role involves validating and certifying wireless performance across Apple's product portfolio. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate industry requirements into test cases and debug wireless performance issues. This position offers the opportunity to build expertise in wireless technologies and RF systems while contributing to innovative products that enhance customer experiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Hands-on working experience with antenna design and testing, anechoic chambers, and RF test equipment.
  • Solid understanding of RF component characteristics and behavior.
  • Solid understanding of at least one wireless technology such as IEEE 802.11, Bluetooth, GNSS, LTE, GSM, UMTS, or CDMA.
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) is preferred.
  • Understanding of PHY Layer and MAC/application layer protocols.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB simulations.
  • Hands-on experience with RF test equipment from industry-leading vendors.
  • Familiarity with OTA test standards and methodologies.
  • Exposure to AI tools and workflows to enhance productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Validate and certify wireless performance across Apple's product portfolio.
  • Translate carrier and industry requirements into test cases.
  • Execute OTA validation plans and support certification testing at third-party labs.
  • Debug wireless performance issues in collaboration with antenna, RF hardware, product design, and software engineering teams.
  • Drive certification programs at third-party labs such as PTCRB and CTIA.
  • Utilize analytical skills to diagnose complex RF and wireless performance issues.
