Job description
This role is a lead position in Softgoods Engineering at Apple, focusing on the design and development of innovative products made from textiles and soft polymers. The team aims to enhance existing product lines and enable new technologies, showcasing creativity and collaboration. You will work closely with industrial designers, engineers, and scientists to create functional and aesthetically pleasing Softgoods products. The position requires a blend of technical expertise and design intuition to deliver extraordinary Apple products.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 3+ years of product design experience with extensive CAD experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present technical concepts to a multi-disciplinary team
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is preferred
- Experience with NX software
- Previous experience in Softgoods and/or wearables product design
Responsibilities
- Design and build prototypes in partnership with the Industrial Design team
- Collaborate with engineers and scientists to create Softgoods products for various Apple devices
- Learn and apply Softgoods materials and assembly processes that differ from traditional engineering methods
- Integrate electrical and mechanical components into Softgoods to create functional products
