Job description
The Mechanical Engineer (FEA) will be part of the camera hardware engineering team at Apple, focusing on the research, design, development, testing, and qualification of camera hardware for Apple products. This role requires a strong background in mechanical engineering with an emphasis on solid mechanics and thermo-structural analysis. The ideal candidate will have experience in modeling various materials and conducting physical testing to validate models. Requirements
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Material Science or similar concentration.
- 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
- MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Material Science or similar concentration.
- Experience in electromagnetic, heat transfer, and CFD analysis.
- Proficiency in Matlab, Python, and Abaqus User Subroutines.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and work on camera hardware modules and component parts.
- Conduct calibration, verification, and validation of models through physical testing.
- Model different classes of materials including polymers, elastomers, soft adhesives, and brittle materials.
- Utilize Digital Image Correlations, Universal Testing Machines, and Dynamic Mechanical Analysis for testing.
- Couple FEA results to optical simulation tools such as Zemax or CODE V.
