Job description

This role at Apple involves leading the development and ramping of next generation Mac products as a quality engineer. The position requires collaboration with various teams including Industrial Design, Product Design, and Manufacturing Design. The focus is on process development, new product introduction, and supplier execution in a high volume manufacturing environment. Requirements

  • 2+ years of full time mechanical manufacturing experience is required.
  • Experience with fabricating parts or jigs, fixtures, tooling, injection molding, plastics, ceramics, and metal machining is required.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required, with a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • A solid understanding of DOE, GD&T, SPC, and mechanical fabrication techniques is preferred.
  • Engineering management or program management background is considered a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the suitability of fabrication technology for part designs.
  • Plan validation exercises to demonstrate process feasibility and capability.
  • Lead experiments to produce analyses for design, development, and supply chain decisions.
  • Review progress of development activities at supplier locations and escalate critical process issues.
  • Drive process development and capability assessment activities as the direct responsible engineer.
  • Assign tasks and work with suppliers to support process development and data gathering.
  • Establish validation procedures for acceptance of processes into development builds and mass production.
  • Review supplier tool design, process flow, equipment selection, and proposals.
  • Identify shortfalls and corrective actions to ensure design compliance.
  • Assess supplier readiness for build events and production ramp, providing recommendations to mitigate risks.
