JobsSilicon Photonics & Optical Packaging Engineer
Job description
The role of Si photonics & optical Packaging Engineer focuses on developing high-efficiency optical I/O module architecture and packaging solutions for silicon photonics technology. The engineer will work within a cross-functional team to support the development of optical engine modules and co-packaging optics. This position emphasizes the optimization of optical coupling design and manufacturing processes for performance and cost-effectiveness. The engineer will also engage with vendors and foundries to bring packaging solutions from concept to high-volume manufacturing.
Requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Physics (Optics major), Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent field is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in the related field with an M.S. or Ph.D.
- Strong theoretical background in optics and photonics fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience in packaging and measuring fiber-coupled devices.
- Experience with CMOS BEOL wafer scale processing and flip chip assembly is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Support Si photonics packaging technology development.
- Define assembly baseline processes and decide package BOM.
- Establish optical coupling design and manufacturing optimized for performance, reliability, yield, and cost.
- Drive micro-optical component assembly and interface characterization through innovation.
- Collaborate with optical component vendors, foundries, and OSAT to bring Si photonics packaging solutions from concept to high-volume manufacturing.
- Engage in a minimum of 5% international travel.
