Job description

The Sensing Architecture team at Apple is focused on developing advanced technologies and sensor modules for various products, including iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. The role involves architecting next-generation sensing hardware systems, ensuring robust and optimized designs. The engineer will work on end-to-end sensing systems, including sensor and ASIC requirements, as well as back-end algorithms. Collaboration with hardware teams is essential to clarify design challenges and align efforts across projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirement of a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Mathematics, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • M.S. or Ph.D. with relevant project or coursework experience designing sensing systems.
  • Deep understanding of electrical engineering, transducer physics, and system engineering.
  • Experience in modeling complex multi-physics and electrical systems.
  • Block level circuit simulation experience.
  • Knowledge of signal processing techniques, both analog and digital.
  • Familiarity with basics of linear algebra, probability, and statistics.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB or equivalent packages.
  • Experience in leveraging AIML technologies to create scripts and frameworks for enhanced efficiency.
  • Understanding of software architecture best practices for complicated tool flows.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Architect the end-to-end sensing system, including sensor and ASIC requirements.
  • Deliver an architecture package backed by extensive modeling and simulations.
  • Help hardware teams accelerate progress by clarifying ambiguous design spaces.
  • Independently converge technical issues and align efforts across teams.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
