Job description

The digital hardware design engineer will be part of a world-class wireless hardware team responsible for the design, implementation, and verification of baseband systems for all mobile Apple products. This role involves collaborating with internal hardware and silicon teams to bring up, characterize, and validate new digital interfaces and protocols. The engineer will also work with external vendors to troubleshoot silicon design issues and develop integration plans. The focus is on ensuring high-performance wireless connectivity through innovative system-on-chip designs.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • A minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience
  • Solid understanding of SoC/PMU design and micro-architecture
  • Experience with high-speed memory systems and digital communication interfaces
  • Familiarity with interpreting complex schematics and PCB layouts
  • Hands-on hardware debugging expertise with modern lab equipment
  • Good understanding of modern operating systems, firmware, and device drivers

Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, and debug system-level test plans for new silicon.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering groups to improve product performance.
  • Work with internal hardware and silicon teams to validate new digital interfaces.
  • Discover root cause silicon design issues during development prototype builds.
  • Develop successful integration and verification plans with external chipset vendors.
  • Conduct volume stress testing and reliability screening of wireless modem chipsets.
