The Apple CPU Architecture and Performance Team is looking for motivated engineers who can bridge the gap between hardware and software. This role involves understanding CPU architecture while collaborating with software developers to optimize applications for modern hardware. Candidates should have a passion for product ownership and a track record in product development. The team focuses on advanced exploration for next-generation CPU architectures, utilizing a data-driven approach to guide optimizations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with CPU architecture and micro-architecture.
- Object-oriented programming experience with C and C++.
- Experience in scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or Javascript.
- Experience with CPU performance analysis and associated tools.
- Experience with common performance benchmarks.
- MS or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 20+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience working multi-functionally with people of very diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated communication, influence, and negotiation skills.
- Technical documentation skills.
- Knowledge of visual/UI, data analysis frameworks and modern AI tools.
- Knowledge of OS internals and compiler technology.
Responsibilities
- Act as the interface between the CPU team, system teams, and software teams at Apple.
- Guide optimizations and the direction of future CPUs based on real user workloads.
- Work with software developers to optimize code for CPU designs and roadmap.
