The Mac Product Design team is seeking a Product Design Engineer to creatively solve design challenges for portable and desktop computers. This role involves collaborating with engineers and designers to integrate technology into innovative products that enhance customer experiences. The engineer will ideate concepts, prototype, test, and travel to assembly sites to optimize designs. A strong focus will be on ensuring designs meet requirements throughout their lifecycle.
Requirements
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in a mechanical engineering role
- Experience in consumer electronic design
- Experience in designing for mass production
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with industrial designers, product integrity, hardware, software, and technology groups to refine and execute product designs.
- Develop initial product layouts and generate concepts for prototyping and testing.
- Partner with external vendors and internal manufacturing teams to optimize designs for function, cosmetics, and manufacturability.
- Perform stress, tolerance, and failure analysis to ensure design meets requirements throughout its lifecycle.
- Travel up to 20% in Asia to support factory builds.
