Job description

This role is for a mechanical engineer at Apple, focusing on the development and ramp of next-generation products. Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in process development, bring up, and qualification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience in program or project management.
  • Manufacturing or supplier management experience is required.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and Engineering Drawing Interpretation.
  • Familiarity with Design of Experiments and statistical process control methods.
  • Proficiency in Excel and JMP.
  • Knowledge of Metrology design and Optical/Contact Measurement Equipment is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Mandarin or Korean language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review and provide feedback on design and design intent of components and assemblies.
  • Set standard manufacturing practices and determine their impact on design and final product parameters.
  • Partner with internal and external teams to evaluate designs and processes during the concept phase.
  • Develop new or improved processes for parts and assemblies using theoretical and practical engineering.
  • Drive corrective actions with internal and external team members.
  • Conduct design experiments to validate manufacturing processes or design iterations.
  • Ensure new products are mechanically manufacturable through design for manufacturability.
  • Design and develop complex processes to enhance quality and efficiency.
  • Present technical issues and updates to management and cross-functional teams regularly.
  • Provide creative solutions for engineering challenges related to the assembly process.
  • Travel internationally to supplier sites, up to 30% of the time.
