- 8+ years of relevant industry experience in hardware architecture, electrical engineering, network architecture, or data center infrastructure design.
- Strong EE fundamentals with a solid understanding of electromagnetics and first principles.
- Deep understanding of cluster and data hall level infrastructure, including network topology and power distribution systems.
- Working knowledge of design and validation requirements for common digital interfaces such as I2C/SMBus, SPI, JTAG, USB, PCIe, Ethernet, DDR Memory, and storage interfaces.
- Experience with high-speed board design and guiding SI/PI simulations.
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Functional experience defining and deploying datacenter cluster networking architectures for AI/ML workloads.
- Proven track record of deploying AI/ML experiences at scale in large-scale data centers.
- Strong technical breadth across computer subsystem technologies including CPU, xPU, storage, memory, and high-speed networking.
- Exposure to hyperscale data center environments and experience designing for high volume and high reliability systems.
- Familiarity with network cluster topologies for AI/ML workloads.
- Proven ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams to aggregate validation results.
- Strong systems-level thinking with the ability to understand dependencies across cluster, hall, rack, and server levels.
- High-speed PCB design experience with 10+ layer boards.
- Understanding of computer architecture and design tradeoffs.
- Understanding of power efficiency optimization at scale and sustainability initiatives.
- Prior experience in mentoring engineers or leading technical teams is preferred.
- Superior written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Own and advance critical investigations spanning cluster-level network topology and power distribution.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including electrical validation, software engineering, and hardware test teams.
- Aggregate validation results and verify design assumptions.
- Drive technical innovation through data-driven analysis.
- Present findings and influence strategic decisions to executive leadership.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
