The Software Development Engineer role within Apple's AI, Search & Knowledge Platform Cloud Infrastructure Team focuses on enhancing the reliability of machine learning platforms. This team is responsible for designing and managing foundational systems that support search and machine learning workloads. The engineer will transition processes from reactive to proactive and manual to automatic, while also visualizing platform scalability and stability. The role requires collaboration across teams to prioritize engineering efforts based on system performance indicators.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in software development for compute infrastructure or its operational stack.
- Solid understanding of system architecture and large-scale machine learning service operations.
- Proficiency in coding with scripting and programming languages, including Bash, Python, and Golang.
- Knowledge of machine learning, including large language models, and experience in developing large-scale ML jobs.
- Experience in designing and implementing systems to support machine learning applications.
Responsibilities
- Address user queries or tickets and triage issues effectively.
- Convert diagnosis processes and solutions from ad hoc to systematic approaches.
- Visualize machine learning platform scalability and stability, assessing their impact on development velocity.
- Prioritize engineering efforts across teams based on actual impact on key performance indicators.
- Drive projects from problem statement through to post-deployment operations.
