Job description
The Data Center Design Engineer will lead projects and guide cross-functional teams to meet Infrastructure Design requirements. This role involves close collaboration with Electrical, Mechanical, and Structural Engineers to optimize data center spaces for efficiency. The engineer will also work with construction and internal teams to publish and implement construction drawings and specifications. A strong understanding of data center infrastructure and industry standards is essential for success in this position.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Construction Management or similar or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of structured cabling infrastructure experience (OSP/ISP)
- Experience working with low voltage power
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally to various colocation sites
- Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of data centers
- Project Management experience
- Strong understanding of telecommunications infrastructure standards
- Ability to maintain records of design work (as builds)
- Strong understanding of network environments
- Ability to navigate AutoCAD Software
- Ability to create and manipulate CAD 2D & 3D models
- Proven success in team environments demonstrating shared responsibility and accountability
- Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and making decisions quickly under tight deadlines
Responsibilities
- Lead projects and guide cross-functional teams to meet Infrastructure Design requirements.
- Collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical, and Structural Engineers to maximize data center efficiency.
- Publish and implement construction drawings and specifications in coordination with internal teams.
- Work closely with vendors to develop products based on project requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of design work and as-built documentation.
- Navigate AutoCAD Software to create and manipulate CAD models.
