Job description

The Optical Sensing team at Apple is seeking electrical engineers with a strong background in analog and board-level design. This role focuses on developing next-generation optical sensing technologies for various Apple products. Candidates will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to enhance product design and manufacturability. The position requires hands-on experience and a proactive approach to tackling technical challenges.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Optics.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong electrical engineering background in analog and mixed-signal system-level circuit design.
  • Experience with photodiode front-ends, LED/VCSEL drivers, and basic optics is a plus.
  • Experience in ANSYS, SPICE, or similar simulation and modeling tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork abilities and self-motivation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and launch next-generation optical sensing technologies.
  • Analyze data to draw conclusions and enhance product design.
  • Drive failure analysis and support volume manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with Optical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Process Engineers, Reliability Engineers, Test Engineers, and Software Engineers.
  • Utilize lab equipment such as microscopes and light sources for board-level circuit design.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
