Job description
The role is for a senior control system integration engineer within Apple's R&D group, focusing on building and assessing control system prototypes and their components. The team is highly cross-functional, working hands-on to develop unique control systems. The engineer will collaborate with algorithm developers and mechanical engineers to validate customized control systems for various applications. This position requires a passion for pushing the performance boundaries of complex systems.
Requirements
- MS or PhD in Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of industry experience
- Strong knowledge in control engineering, sensor technology, and digital signal processing
- Experience in testing and debugging physical systems including hardware, software, and algorithms
- Proficiency in coding with C/C++, Matlab/Simulink, and/or Python
- Familiarity with source control systems such as Git
- Experience with embedded systems testing and analysis
- Knowledge of Field Oriented Control (FOC) techniques
- Strong skills in data analytics and root cause analysis
- Experience with real-time target systems like dSPACE, Speedgoat, or National Instruments hardware
- Familiarity with serial communication protocols such as Ethernet, CAN, LIN, UART, SPI, I2C, and BISS
Responsibilities
- Prototype, develop, bring-up, debug, and characterize new control techniques on real hardware
- Perform rapid integration and validation of complex prototypes
- Conduct tuning, calibration, and testing of control systems at large scale
- Perform failure analysis and problem solving
- Communicate progress cross-functionally through written, verbal, and presentation methods
- Travel to supplier facilities and manufacturing sites for build activity support, production validation, and issue resolution
