Job description

The Hardware Engineer role within Apple's Camera Hardware Engineering group focuses on the development of high-performance compact camera modules. This position involves collaborating with various teams to research, design, develop, test, and qualify camera hardware for Apple products. The engineer will take ownership of camera hardware projects and lead engagements with product and technology teams. A strong emphasis is placed on innovative solutions for camera systems, contributing to an exceptional photography experience for customers.

Requirements

  • B.S in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience in the design of miniature components or opto-mechanical modules for high-volume products.
  • 3 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proficiency in mechanical design using 3D CAD molding and drafting packages, specifically NX.
  • Knowledge of magnetic simulation and voice coil motor (VCM) for cameras.
  • Basic understanding of structural and thermal Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Ability to perform tolerance analysis of high complexity and precision mechanical designs with a strong understanding of GD&T.
  • Experience in designing for plastic injection molding and metal stamping for mass production.
  • Familiarity with various materials, including research, selection, testing, and process ability.
  • Experience with testing, reliability, and qualification of systems.
  • Experience with electro-mechanical design for cameras is a definite plus.
