Job description
Apple is seeking a creative and hands-on Quality Engineer to validate the next-generation MacBook trackpads and keyboards. This role involves testing hardware and ensuring that the devices accurately interpret user interactions. The engineer will work closely with a collaborative team of developers and experts, focusing on both early prototypes and mass production. The main challenge is to apply technical knowledge while empathizing with the end-user to enhance the overall user experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in firmware validation, embedded development, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in firmware validation or development with a track record of shipping quality consumer products.
- Demonstrated experience with bug hunting, regression testing, and system-level debugging.
- Ability to understand and test the underlying logic that maps physical inputs to software events.
- Experience designing or programming robotic automation fixtures and integrating them into test frameworks.
- Proficiency with Python, Bash, Swift, or other scripting languages for test automation.
- Experience with embedded software architecture and hardware debugging tools.
Responsibilities
- Drive the validation of MacBook trackpads and keyboards.
- Architect new test cases that push firmware and logic to their limits.
- Act as a strategic partner to Firmware, Software, and Algorithms Developers.
- Use generated data to influence design decisions.
- Identify scenarios where code functions correctly but the user experience is lacking.
- Collaborate with Product Design and Human Factors teams.
