Job description

The Apple CPU Architecture and Performance Team is looking for motivated engineers who can bridge the gap between hardware and software. This role involves understanding CPU architecture while collaborating with software developers to optimize code for CPU designs. The team focuses on advanced exploration for next-generation CPU architectures, utilizing a data-driven approach based on real user workloads. Successful candidates will have a passion for product ownership and a strong track record in product development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in CPU architecture and micro-architecture.
  • Object-oriented programming experience with C and C++.
  • Experience in scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or Javascript.
  • Experience with CPU performance analysis and associated tools.
  • MS or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Knowledge of common performance benchmarks.
  • Demonstrated communication, influence, and negotiation skills.
  • Technical documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of visual/UI, data analysis frameworks, and modern AI tools.
  • Knowledge of OS internals and compiler technology.

Responsibilities

  • Interface between the CPU team, system teams, and various software teams at Apple.
  • Guide optimizations and the direction of future CPUs based on data-driven insights.
  • Collaborate with software developers to optimize code for CPU designs and roadmap.
  • Drive advanced exploration for next-generation CPU architectures.
